We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.

I had a very relaxing and quiet time in an authentic Japanese house in the countryside. After returning from Biwaichi Cycling, we took a nap on the tatami mats and enjoyed BBQ in the garden for dinner. At night it was a pleasure to see fireflies in the brook just nearby. It looks like it can accommodate a few more people. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.
