This multi-coloured and complex African metropolis is the biggest city in South Africa and probably the living example of its much debated history. Johannesburg is not the capital of the country, but it represents its main economic hub, and is also the seat of the Constitutional Court.
Popularly known as Jo’burg, the city is constantly under renovation in all areas, allowing it to slowly but decidedly overcome its ‘Apartheid’ legacy. The Central Business District (CBD) alternates historic buildings with skyscrapers and a lively nightlife. Suburbs like Melville, Newtown or Rosebank have a bohemian atmosphere. With some of the best Johannesburg hotels, Sandton City and Hyde Park are modern residential and shopping areas.
Get to know South Africa’s history at Constitution Hill, the Apartheid Museum, and the Hector Pieterson Museum. Natural areas like the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Cradle of Humankind’, the Lion Park Nature Reserve, or the Krugersdorp Nature Reserve are located outside the city.
OR Tambo International Airport is the largest airport in Africa, while the smaller Lanseria Airport offers connections to mainly domestic destinations. Hotels near Johannesburg’s airport are a popular choice to avoid the last-minute rush. Check out the wide range of Johannesburg accommodation deals available on Booking.com.

It was too pretty, very organized, and neat, everyone kept saying it was because I was in the posh area but I only chose to see the good in SA because it was just too fine especially since it was in Africa, I also found the whole of SA quite modern having traveled to so many places. I only feel sad I didn't explore the tourist attractions nor nightlife

Because of safety issues, we were advised to avoid downtown Jo-burg which we only saw through car windows. We did tours of the Apartheid Museum and Soweto and found both of these very worthwhile. We stayed in a fabulous small hotel in a very secure and beautiful setting (The Cliffside Boutique Hotel) and staying there was a highlight of our month-long trip to South Africa.

Fourways is a good area to just take a minute for a quick breakaway. There are a few accommodation options with varying prices to fit any budget. Places to eat are close by and affordable. Getting around can be tricky but there public transport available. Like any other place, you have to be aware of your surrounding but we never felt unsafe.

It's the best budget hotel in Sandton. 7/10 teams I go there I have a fine experience. Security is good, and the facilities are fine, albeit a little outdated by now. The beds are comfortable and is fine for the night. The rooms in the eastern wing are fantastic, if you manage to get a room here. The hotel has a fantastic location and in general I really enjoy my stays here. The outdoor parking and size of the hotel makes it a little less of a concrete jungle, with some exposure to gardens and trees.
It is luxurious through and through. It is a real spoil to stay there and I would go back at any time. We had the rooms with patios and it is pure luxury and relaxation. You can order spa treatments to be done in your room and breakfast is also served as room service if you prefer. The hotel is lovely and gardens are tranquil and beautiful. It doesn't feel like you are in the middle of Johannesburg.
I loved everything about the Fairway Hotel and spar. The room was neat, I had my room decorated for my boyfriend's birthday, the hotel went all out to decorate the room with roses etc, it was the most beautiful thing I have ever set my eyes on. The breakfast was the best, everything about this hotel was 5 star. I recommend this hotel for everyone wishing to come to jhb👌
My stay at Blackbrick Sandton was excellent. The rooms are smart and clean, staff is exceptionally helpful and responsive, and the facilities are minimalist but good quality. Especially the location, if you need to be in Sandton CBD, cannot be beaten. In terms of price/quality this is my favourite place in Johannesburg and I'll be coming back.
The accommodation and breakfast on offer is genuine 4 star quality. Comfortable and very good. The location is fine if you need to be in the Randburg area or the North-West suburbs of Johannesburg. It is also not far from the Sandton CBD. Security is good. The establishment is an oasis in an area which is unfortunately deteriorating.
Very relaxing atmosphere with two pools, wonderful garden and a fish pond. Quiet area central in close proximity to Sandton and the northern suburbs. Wonderful staff and very clean. Will stay again next time I’m in Johannesburg! Thank you Ian, Paul and team for a wonderful and healing stay
Stayed in Presidential Suite . Best room ever in a hotel.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Excellent dining choices.
views of golf course were wonderful. Early and late walks on golf course we’re great. Very secure location. Definitely 5 star
It was near the casino and very central to Fourways, Sandton and westrand. Great restaurants in the neighborhood. A young, beautiful yuppy minimalistic hotel. Thanks God there was a very well functioning and silent type of air conditioning
Very trendy hotel, excellent location in Johannesburg. Staff are very friendly, helped us with the logistics and guide for a small tour around the city.
The hotel restaurant offers wonderful breakfast and great spot for drinks and dinner.
The hotel is very well located at Sandton. You can go easily walking to the Mandela square. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful. The hotel helped us to organize a quick guided tour to Johannesburg. The breakfast was fantastic.
Hotel facilities were good, and close enough to OR Tambo Airport. Good breakfast, and rooms were clean and comfortable. The underground parking was good, and the hotel was very secure.
Raddison Blue hotel Sandton, Johannesburg is soooo good, the property is clean, my room was so clean, spacious. The view was great. Breakfast was marvelous, I liked the food too.
The hotel staff was exceptional! The facilities are lovely and the food was delicious, but the warm and engaging staff made our visit to Johannesburg truly memorable.
The location is perfect for business traveller. If you have to work around Sandton CBD its the great place for stay. The linen also was great. Clean and soft.
